Mountain deers in Picos de Europa National Park, Spain, Asturias

As a photographer I love encountering wildlife in nature.

For the trek on these mountains in Asturias, I wanted a shot of  the elegant deers with sunset.

But we had a trek ahead with a schedule. No much time to wait around and properly spend time searching for the mountain deers. 

Time was really running out and I started to be hopeless of finding the right spot at the right time with the right character. Day was setting down and and I still didn't have the shot. We were getting close to the basecamp. I had almost given up on the shot.

Just around the sunset when we climbed on top of the base camp to look for the sunset, we noticed two deers very near by. I ran to the near by rock, until I was close enough and slowed down to click the shot. 

I guess I was respectful enough and the deers stayed with me for a while. They even moved to a slightly better spot, leaving the view more open behind them. It was a beautiful moment as the sunset colors started to appear.

Photographing wildlife can test the patience but yet it's so rewarding. I love it more and more every time I get a chance to encounter wildlife.
