There is always a battle to find a perfect wave. As much as the waves are for everyone, we all know - the less busier the spot is - the more enjoyable surfing becomes.
In cities and breaks near the city beaches, finding these waves can get difficult.
December 2020, waters are warm in the Atlantic island region, Covid has wiped out tourists. No swell in sight.
Then, on a normal Thursday evening, anyone who would walk along the main Esplanade in Las Palmas, noticed there were decent waves breaking on the point break formed by the lighthouse point and a break wall sticking out.
I call him the lonely surfer, but not in a negative way - he found the solitude right after storm passing by, in the quiet beach and scored the waves for himself. The remains of the storm clouds, the salt mist in the air, and setting sun created the mystical atmosphere with the lighthouse on the background, and truly made me appreciate the small changed in the environment.
